The Long Beach Japanese Cultural Center (LBJCC) is hosting a fundraising event for the victims of the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan, at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Gardens on Sunday, March 27th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There will be a candlelight vigil at 7:00 pm. So bring your checkbook and a candle. Join in with the Cultural Center to show your support during this time of need. While the level of devastation to the people of Japan is unbelievable, the amount of help charitable organizations as well as people are willing to provide is just as amazing. Below is a list of web sites which lists organizations providing help to victims of the earthquake and tsunami, which struck Japan. I will try to keep this list updated.

The annual LBJCC Shinnen-enkai (sorry – needs a dash, too many “n”s…..) was held on Sunday February 13th. As always, a big crowd was on hand for lots of food, entertainment, door prizes and fun!

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Long Beach Japanese Community Center (formerly, the Harbor District Community Center), a luncheon will be held on Sunday October 31, 2010 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Long Beach Japanese Community Center. The cost of the luncheon is $20 per person. All current and former members of the LBJCC are invited to attend and enjoy the afternoon as we celebrate 60 years in the Long Beach community. This past Labor Day LBJLS participated at Orange County International Street Fair. For three days we served California rolls and Shaved Ice. It’s our biggest fundraiser for the year and we had a pretty good turn out. Thanks to all for you hard work and help!
